Everything You Need To Know About Bankruptcy In Saint Louis

Take Your Second Financial Management Course

Although we try to make the bankruptcy process as easy as possible, there is a still a fair amount of work that you will need to do yourself to complete your case. You have to gather all of your documents, meet with your attorney multiple times, sign the documents, take the first financial management (credit counseling) course, gather more documents, attend a meeting of creditors, and take a second financial management course (the debtor's education). This all takes time, but it’s worth it.

However, if you fail to take your second credit counseling course, the Bankruptcy Court will dismiss your case and you will not receive a discharge. If you act quickly, the Bankruptcy Court will let you take the course and we can file a motion to reopen the case. The good news is that the Court will grant you your discharge. The bad news is that the Court will charge you $260.00 to reopen your case. You have put a lot of time and effort into getting a fresh start. Do not let it all fall apart because you did not complete an online/telephonic course. Make sure that you complete your second credit counseling course, and that your attorney has a copy.
